Personally I don't see the point of them.

I get a more advanced ballistic computer using my itouch and "Ballistic FTE" than the bors.

My understanding of the bors is that you can use a computer to load a ballistic table into the system. Then you zero at 100yds. After that, you turn the turret until the desired range is displayed in the window.

I don't see how that is any different from having a drop table, and dialing the correct number of mils/moa to get to that range. I certainly don't need some huge box on top my rifle to tell me what yardage I'm dialed to.

Maybe there are some other benefits I'm not seeing?

Its faster and its mounted to the gun. With the knob being attached to the computer it will also tell you if you went to far or not far ebough...
Plus its more tacti-cool...

Upon reading a bit. Seems pretty cool. The early models weren't quite as good, that I do know. It automatically accounts for pressure, temp, and shooting angle.

Dial the yardage, do your trigger work.

This system seems kinda idiot proof

Well, its still cheaper to go the kestrel route. By a lot actually, and you get to use whatever scope you want.

Kestrel 4000NV - $250
itouch - $175
Ballistic - FTE - $20
= $445

Much cheaper than BORS.

Dont forget it only fits high end scopes like the MK4 and NXS. Also you still need all your normal long range shooting tools with the BORS, like range finder and weather station. Just in case...

Actually, you wouldn't need a weather station... like the kestrel 3500 or better, because the bors has pressure, temp, and humidity sensors built in, if I read right.

You'd still need a wind meter, and technically you could use your reticle to range if you had the right scope.

I like my kestrel, itouch setup better than I'd like that thing on my rifle. Just my preference.
